Search Queries
A name or place entered into a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that feature. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Jefferson County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to the site may be kept for the time needed to respond. Its contents remain within the operating team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers may automatically receive routine technical information about that visit:

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Jefferson County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to records maintained by Jefferson County law enforcement, the local courts, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not turned into a consumer report or a criminal-history file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies supply the search-box services. Information submitted through a box is governed by that company's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each partner decides how long it keeps information and when it shares data. Review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to a sheriff's page, court portal, Tennessee agency, legal-aid resource, or outside search service. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy rules apply. Those rules should be read before personal information is provided.
Some advertising networks may measure activity across more than one website to select ads. That cross-site process occurs through the network's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may nevertheless be received by:
- An outside search provider processing a query submitted to its tool
- Analytics vendors measuring site use and technical performance
- Advertising networks serving placements on the pages
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used security measures protect information collected through the site. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, and the site cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or another breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If information from a minor is identified, it will be removed as required.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide rights concerning personal data. The Tennessee Public Records Act, TCA §§10-7-503 and 10-7-504, governs access to records held by Tennessee government offices and the exceptions to that access; it does not convert this private site's visitor data into a government record. TCA §40-39-206 governs public and confidential categories in the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry, not private visitor analytics. Subject to the law that applies, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal information held about them
- Seek correction of inaccurate personal information
- Ask for deletion where the law permits it
- Object to or opt out of eligible forms of processing
