1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference website with no government connection. It does not store official criminal files, obtain agency records for visitors, conduct official checks, or submit documents on anyone's behalf.

Its content identifies the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, local criminal courts, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Sex Offender Registry, and other custodians. Some pages also provide access to independently operated search tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the website is conditioned on an agreement not to:

• Violate a federal, Tennessee, or local law through use of the site
• Employ its information to threaten, stalk, or harass another person
• Rely on its content for an employment, housing, credit, or insurance decision
• Attempt unauthorized access to any account, server, network, or system

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information found here or through a linked service must not be used to stalk, intimidate, threaten, harass, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. TCA §40-39-206 addresses the information made public through the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry and protects violent-juvenile registry data subject to statutory exceptions. TBI warns that threats, stalking, harassment, intimidation, or criminal misuse of registry information may lead to prosecution and civil liability. Registry access supports lawful safety awareness, never vigilante conduct or prohibited discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Jefferson County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It does not create a background check, credit report, or other consumer report. Its advertising partners are not presented as providers for applicant screening, rental decisions, insurance pricing, or credit judgments. Information from the site or a linked tool may not be used to:

• Make a hiring, retention, or termination decision
• Evaluate a renter or housing application
• Assess credit or determine an insurance rate
• Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
• Carry out any other action regulated by the FCRA

A check for a regulated purpose must be obtained through an authorized official process or a provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

The content is not legal advice. General explanations of Jefferson County records cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, or expungement rule applies in an individual matter. A licensed Tennessee attorney should address those questions.

6. No Warranties

All services and content are supplied "as is." No warranty is made that:

Jefferson County Criminal History does not control the destination's content, availability, fees, privacy practices, or terms, which should be reviewed before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code are owned by Jefferson County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, altered, distributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Jefferson County Criminal History is not liable for loss or damage arising from use of the site, including reliance on content found here or through an external service.

10. Indemnification

11. Governing Law

Tennessee law governs these terms, and a dispute concerning use of the website must be brought in a court located in Tennessee. The Tennessee Public Records Act, TCA §§10-7-503 and 10-7-504, governs access to official state and local government records and their exceptions; it does not make this private website a public-record custodian.
